Podcast Appreciation Month: Game Night Guys

I first heard Game Night Guys when my good friend Curtis was a guest on the show, and became a regular listener when he became a regular cohost. He and Brian live in Phoenix, and Garrett and I had an awesome time as guests on the show last time we were down there.

This show's more about the guys than the games. They're really funny and quite good at pushing each other's buttons. And luckily for the listeners, the games they play are usually weird, old, or both. Not necessarily fun for them to play, but guaranteed to be fun for us to listen to.

Speaking of which, do you have any old games to get rid of? Please consider checking their site to see if they've already played them, and sending them in if they haven't.

After some days off to get the new fiscal year stuff ready at work and then
celebrate Pride, it was hard to get back into the swing of things, so
instead of something long, I decided to go for something difficult.
Generally when I want a difficult walk, I head for the Death Stairs.

Podcast Appreciation Month: Gay Pimpin' with Jonny McGovern

I actually feel underqualified to talk about this one. I've always loved the Gay Pimp's videos, but I found Big Gay Sketch Show just as it was ending, and now I'm a few episodes deep into the podcast, which has been around since way before I even knew what a podcast was.

Just play it, and have a good time. That's what I've been doing.

Podcast Appreciation Month: I Seem Fun: The Diary of Jen Kirkman

I really enjoyed Jen Kirkman's book which came out a few months ago, I Can Barely Take Care of Myself, but I got tired of her Twitter because she's one of those celebrities that engages people who don't like her too much. Sure, the jerks should be called out for their crap, but when that's most of what's going on in the feed, it's hardly worth reading.

I'm glad she started podcasting. So far, she just sits in her bed and talks for a while about whatever she's thinking about. On the most recent one I heard, she started reading some listener emails, and hopefully that'll be the extent of the show's "features." It's more fun to just hear her train of thought pull into the station, depart late, and jump the tracks.

Today I learned that if I walk straight to Madrona, it's not far enough and
I won't want to take the bus back up. I also learned that if the sun comes
out for a bit, the walk back up is extremely brutal. And that I should pay
attention when a sign says dead end. And that Madrona Park is overgrown and
there's no way through it. Yeah, those two parts in the lower right are not
errors, I had to double back twice.

Jerk chicken, mesquite beans, coleslaw, bread for soppin'.

EDIT: Oh man, that coleslaw was the bomb. I made the dressing out of mayo, rice vinegar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and a clove of garlic.

It wasn't easy getting out of bed this morning, but Sunday's the day I can
take the car somewhere and see something new. Plus, the cats never leave me
alone in the morning when I want them to.

And I'd much rather be walking along a cool, empty beach on a foggy morning
than in bed anyway.
