Today's impromptu walk, 4.2 miles in 1:21 (289ft gain)
The plan was to make my way up to the mall (two buses) and have lunch, and
maybe shop a bit at Kohl's and Target. Turns out there's no Kohl's any
more, which was sad. I saw some amazing stuff I might have to go back for
at Ross, though.
I'm a compulsively early person, and ended up with well over an hour to
kill before time to get the next bus up to the discount theater for Man of
Steel, so I decided to walk instead. It was warm and sweaty and gross, but
I'm glad I did it. Even though I didn't stink enough to stop Miss
I-Flip-My-Hair-Every-Two-Minutes from sitting in the row in front of me.

Turnstiles
I like turnstiles because they represent a security policy that's actually enforced rather than expecting people to comply while also policing each other. I work in a secure building and we have to use our badge to get inside, but if someone tries to come with us, we're supposed to make sure they swipe their badge and confront them if they don't. I think that's dumb. If you want to make people use the badge, hook it up to a turnstile.
But since there isn't one, I prefer to avoid having to be the enforcer. My favorite place to avoid that duty is the walkway between my office and the cafeteria. There are glass doors at either end so you can always see if someone's behind you, and the way I like to do it is to walk quickly, open the door just far enough so I can slip in, and let it close behind me.
You're supposed to be polite and hold doors for people, but at work you're supposed to act like a guard if you do that. It's so satisfying to do neither.

I made mojito popsicles last night
They were good. And the batch was enough to make another set, so there are some waiting for us in the freezer for tonight!

Popsicle adventures
Not sure why I waited until the end of the summer to get on this adult popsicle kick. I guess it's because I didn't really have one until a couple of weeks ago at Rock Box, but still. I've had the molds for ages now, I should have tried it sooner.
I wanted to do something different last night, but also knew I'd be busy cleaning the grill, cooking dinner, and cleaning the grill again, so I just grabbed a bag of frozen bananas, peaches, and strawberries. Blended that all up with some simple syrup and rum. Kinda boring but I'm not looking to win any awards or anything.
