I made dinner
Orange chicken and quinoa, vegetables cooked up in a little bit of oil, sesame oil, fish sauce, lemon juice, and crushed red pepper flakes.
The vegetables include zucchini and yellow squash that I spiralized.

My ankle still hurts, but now I'm not using a brace or anything. I think it's to the point where the brace won't actually help, and the brace itself is uncomfortable in all sorts of ways. The swelling when I get home and take off my shoes is mildly disturbing, but I think it'll all be over soon.

I finally used my new spiralizer yesterday, and it was awesome. If you like cooking and vegetables, it's a fun tool. A food processor or a grater can make nice shreds, but the spiralizer can make them much longer, which is great for fake pasta. I really enjoy bulking up pasta dishes with a bunch of vegetables or even replacing the pasta entirely. It's also got a blade for big ribbons, so I'm looking forward to going to town on an apple with it and using it in a salad with parmesan ribbons that are similarly sized.
I'm enjoying cooking more all the time and really like improvising and cooking without a recipe and seeing what I come up with.

Facebook has been a real trip. Had a nice exchange with someone I barely remembered last night, only to discover I knew her way better than I could have guessed, based on what we wrote in each other's yearbooks. That's what 20 years will do, I guess. The strange thing about finding out about old events that you don't quite remember is that you start to picture them, and then you wonder if what you're picturing is even close to what happened.
Speaking of internets, I finally figured out a use for Tumblr. I really do consume a lot online every day, but there's not necessarily a place to put things I don't want to just scroll past, but also wouldn't want to bore people with here and don't want to host on flickr since that's not really what it's for. So it's just a depository and a chance to keep up with whatever anyone else is putting there. I'm christopher575 there also, please add me so I can find you.
I also have Google+ and continue to try to figure out what to do with it. Mostly I just end up sharing things that I think certain people would like, but post it publicly as well as to their attention.

Horror movies from the '70s and '80s are often surprisingly good. Of course, I blanked on the name of this one I finally watched that I'd been wondering about since I saw it on the shelves at the video store when I was a kid. Luckily, you can look up your instant watching activity on Netflix. It's called Visiting Hours and its poster/box art is great.
What I specifically like about these older horror movies is the pacing. These days I feel like you could graph most horror movies and the events will play out at nearly the same time, whereas older ones wander a bit, show long conversations between minor characters, and even give the bad guy a lot more screen time instead of having him just appear when things get scary.
I thought about this because I'm bored and am watching Are You in the House Alone? which features a very young Dennis Quaid.

Someone just walked into my office to let me know that we'll be switching offices soon. She was checking out the dimensions and I made sure to mention that it's pretty though to fit two people in here, and she said it would actually be one person. Hopefully that means wherever I'm going will be at least a little bigger, but I won't hold my breath.
Honestly I've been thinking I'd like to spend a lot more time working from home, but there are lots of reasons it wouldn't be practical. If there were some extra rooms and we could set up offices, that'd be a start. Commuting's not so bad anyway, especially because that's really the only time I read. Speaking of which, you should all read Rule 34, it's awesome. Not sure why the cover is so cyberpunky, as the characters in the book are nothing like that.

Back on the topic of movies, I was watching one of my old faves, Night of the Comet a few weeks ago. Catherine Mary Stewart was such an '80s MVP. I watched Weekend at Bernies, Mischief, and The Last Starfighter many times each. Her NotC costar Kelli Maroney was also in Chopping Mall, another total classic which is finally on DVD after many years of being unavailable.

I had a dream a few mornings ago that I was starring in a movie in a minor role. I was filming a scene with the main character and thinking that the movie was going to be the next Singles and I was so excited. It's strange how influential the movie Singles was in my life, along with all the other Seattle stuff telling me I had to move here.

Looking up my instant watching history a few minutes ago was a little embarrassing. I've been watching Clean House every night once I get into bed. I want to get rid of some junk and clean the carpet in my room and get floofy wallpaper. Actually what I really want is for someone else to do it, but there's nowhere near enough junk to make it a Clean House house and I don't want to be on TV anyway.
But yeah, the list of Clean House episodes in my history is hella long. Pretty soon I'll have made my way through all of season 7, which is all they have. They need to get the older seasons because Niecy Nash is my pretend girlfriend.
