Golden Snooze
I typically watch a little bit of a movie or show via Netflix Instant once I get into bed. I can be very sleepy on the couch in the living room, but getting up and heading to bed will always wake me up a bit. I noticed that Stephen King's Golden Years was available, so I decided to give it a shot. I remember when it was playing, they advertised it constantly, but I didn't know anything about it since the ads just showed a clock. But they showed the ads a lot. Like, a lot lot.
Man, they really can afford to be boring when they're making a miniseries. They don't have to edit down nearly as much as they would if it were a movie, and you can tell they want to leave in as much as possible. I swear, I'm barely an hour into it and almost nothing has happened.
I'm not even at the end of episode 1 after five or so nights, and there are seven total episodes. I might have to give up.
Anyone ever see it? Is anything interesting going to happen?

The first two seasons of The Real World are on Hulu Plus
It's so weird to watch it now. I used to be so obsessed. I had every episode of the first five seasons on tape, and applied for season 3. Yeah. Man, I shudder to think how embarrassing the letter I sent had to be. I remember the picture I sent. It was me, on my futon, with an iguana. Yes, I was still a virgin.
One thing about shows on MTV is that they can use whatever music they want, but only while it's on MTV. It's a bummer, because shows like Beavis and Butt-head get way more boring when the music (and their commentary) is taken out. When The Real World went into syndication, it was unwatchable because there was no music at all. It was eerie and sad. Luckily, what I'm seeing on Hulu's got some generic music added. It's not a great score, but it's better than nothing at all.
Oh, the '90s are painful to watch.
The advertiser for this episode, which I've been seeing a lot of on Hulu, is Sherwin-Williams. It's so weird, because they obviously sponsored the season, judging by the giant Sherwin-Williams art piece on the wall near the pool table. Is it a coincidence, or have they had a relationship with Bunim/Murray for 25 seasons?
