Terrifying

There's a local strip mall that cuts into the hill it's on. It's drastic enough that the house behind it has a huge dropoff next to the yard.

Scary dropoff

This freaks me out whenever I see it. I'm sure tons of the other properties around here that I think are beautiful are even scarier, but I guess it just seems different when it's a drop straight onto pavement instead of down a rocky cliffside. Here's an aerial view:

It actually looks like it might be kind of nice up there. I should drive up to it sometime. There might be a decent view.

Green Shirt Thursday

Bonus Throwback Thursday, and this time we know the exact date and time!

Once again, I'm wearing a shirt that has since disappeared and I miss it so. Strange how this keeps happening even though I still have a ton of shirts. This picture was taken at a rave we went to at FX, which was in an old FX McRory's on the waterfront. Fun place to have a party because of the views. Not very many people came to it, and they ended up shutting it down really early. Probably right after this picture was taken.

The somewhat less reluctant yogi

Since I want to make sure I give the yoga a chance to prove to be beneficial, I'm going to do more of it. I did it twice last week, and am planning for three times this week, on M/W/F. Hoping to keep that schedule up for a while with some swimming for sure on Tuesdays and maybe on Thursdays. Haven't walked as much lately, but did a quick trip to the park and back this afternoon. I can't tell if I'm so tired because I didn't sleep well last night or if I did yoga and went for a walk today. Probably some of both.

Walking up to the park, I took some death stairs.

Everett also has death stairs

For those of you who are newer here, that's what I call large outdoor staircases I encounter on my walks. It's particularly apt for these, since they're covered in slippery wet branches due to the last major storm.

I used the neighborhood shortcuts to get back. Moving Eastward, I used the first two, and there's one more that leads from my street out one more close to the main drag. Some kids were playing by that one, and as I emerged from the second one, they fell silent. I think maybe they thought they were the only ones who know about the shortcuts. Sorry, boys.

Here's a nice shot of our trees I got on the way in.

Been a while since I got a good shot of the trees

Me on my birthday

Not sure what year, but I know it was before kindergarten because that's the old house. I'll never forget that little hallway nook because one time I somehow got my foot caught nearby and spent several hours one night right underneath.

Rah rah rah, etc.

We left the neighborhood bar after lunch yesterday and Garrett decided to get us bootleg shirts from the tent at the gas station near us. Here's the back.

I'm not super into football or anything, but hosting a Super Bowl party is fun. Right now, I'm killing the time until then with the Masters of the Universe movie. It's so bad.

The fence of contention

There's a small beach here called Pigeon Creek Beach that's currently only accessible via a half-mile trail next to the port shipping facility. There used to be another way in from the nearby neighborhood.

Fence of contention

The railroad closed it off due to safety concerns. It'd definitely be a bummer to live nearby, since this has turned a one mile trip to the beach and back into three miles. The neighbors are understandably upset, but I thought the TEAR DOWN THIS FENCE flyer I saw at the park trail nearby was a bit much. It's inconvenient, but it's no Berlin Wall.

I think this was taken at Uncle Cliff's, the amusement park in Albuquerque which is now just called Cliff's. How stupid of me to drag a stuffed animal around all day when I'm there to ride rides.
