Every few months it occurs to me to check YouTube to see if one of my all-time favorite songs has a video. It almost always does, and it's usually boring or terrible. At least this one's just boring.

The part at 2:01 gives me goosebumps. My first boyfriend said I liked music that sounds like electronic farts. He's not wrong.

I originally posted that I had a special dance move for "Joy", but that's incorrect. That special dance move was for this:

Life needs a soundtrack

For a three-year period starting in 1994, I worked out on a very boring exercise machine for 40 minutes a day, six days a week. That's 1500+ workouts and I listened to the same CD every single time.

This was a time before we all had iPods and phones that could play MP3s, and even before we all had a spindle of CDs we could record onto. With the setup we had (six disc changer on a nice sound system) it was best to just choose a CD, and I found if I played the whole thing through, then skipped back and played the last four tracks, it was perfect. Maybe a little too perfect. Or maybe I'm just weird for being able to listen to the same CD single so many times.

Once again, I found myself needing a soundtrack. A few weeks ago, I decided I wanted to add something to my walks. During those, I just listen to my whole collection on shuffle. Now I'm doing some elastic band resistance training in the morning after walking an hour. It's a system that uses an anchor which you close into a doorway, so I have to do it in my room. There's a Roku in there, and I've found that the KMFDM station on Pandora is pretty great. I get to hear a lot of old favorites, plus stuff I've never heard that I like immediately.
